At Umbrella for the Needy, our commitment to care and resilience extends beyond physical communities into the digital world. In partnership with the East Africa Feminist Peace Network, we hosted the second session of our training series: Countering Online Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and Gender Disinformation.
This one‑day workshop brought together 17 participants — staff, volunteers, women‑led organizations, and religious leaders — united in their dedication to creating safer, more inclusive online environments.
The Session Covered
* Recognizing and countering online gender‑based violence and misinformation
* Creating safe, inclusive digital spaces
* Practical advocacy tools to protect women and foster credible information
Why This Matters
Online spaces are powerful platforms for connection, advocacy, and leadership. Yet, they are also vulnerable to harmful narratives and disinformation that target women and marginalized groups. By equipping participants with practical tools and strategies, this training strengthens their ability to safeguard communities and amplify credible voices.
Moving Forward
This workshop is part of our ongoing training series on care, resilience, and digital safety, designed to empower communities both offline and online. We extend our gratitude to all participants and partners for their commitment to building a safer, more informed digital world. Together, we are shaping online spaces where dignity, truth, and inclusion thrive.
Thank you for standing with us in this journey.
